Last week was such a cute event. A few days prior to it, I had the chance to try Fields Good which are functional cookies where each flavor that is currently offered is designated for a particular interest. Do you want to focus on a project, enjoy the mocha goodness of their Focus Cookie. How about something before or after my pilates class? I’ve had their peanut butter Protein Cookie, and when it’s time to get some sleep to take on the next day, their oatmeal raisin Sleep Cookie is great. I love how they are sweet, filling, and just feel like fun. At their launch event at Diner 24, I met both of the cofounders Ashley Fields and Kimmie Elizabeth (when I met her she let me know that she had never met another other Kimmie that spelled their name like hers) who talked about the brand and there’s more to come. My favorite is the Focus Cookie and I’m a fan of their Sleep Cookie - I have to say that their Protein Cookie is one that I enjoy prior to a workout which is always nice!

Worlds collided when I first entered the event on a sweltering day and it was only 8:30am, I met Ashley’s mom Debbi Fields - Mrs Fields, the iconic Mrs Fields. Debbi and the brand is not affiliated in any way with Fields Good and she was only there as a mom watching her daughter for her NY launch.
As soon as I met Debbi, I was definitely struck with so many memories (as well as loving her outfit and hearing about her other daughter who has a brand that focuses on vintage fashion finds - the stylist in me was intrigued). Growing up, after tap class, I would go to the mall with either my mom or my Nanny and I would get to have 1 cookie from Mrs Fields! Sometimes when our school would sell cookies for fundraising, it would be Mrs Fields. I also thought about my care packages in college which were this cookie and when I came to NYC, I would go to the bodega and get my favorite sandwich and if I wanted to treat myself, I would have a Snickerdoodle! Everytime I would eat these soft cookies whether fresh from the store or the prepackaged kind, it felt like Hometown memories back in Indiana.
I was not alone in sharing my story as most of the attendees had that experience whether buying it from the mall, having it as their first job, and one person still had the oven marks to prove it!
Debbi was such a gem and her ability to make you feel seen and comment on something that she found special about you was just such a welcoming surprise! Without a doubt, she is an icon as an entrepreneurial trailblazer, but the ability for her to tell you something about yourself that she thinks is important for you to note has had me thinking all weekend. As someone who does a number of projects and has plates spinning, what more can I honestly add to my plate? But my love for being organized, methodical, and holding myself accountable in navigating the work that I do is a skill that she noted isn’t necessarily talked about. I happened to share how you can get in the mindset and she said, “this needs to be shared with others and you need to find a way to do it.” I know she is right and I feel so honored that I was able to meet her, her daughter, Kimmie, and to be able to thank someone who provided amazing memories!
