These episodes are not holding anything back! I don’t even know what to expect as we get this week’s dose of Married at First Sight which continues with E16! Everyone is talking about the dinner and what went down between Adam and Shawn! What is the Couple’s Retreat going to be?

Tori and Felipe debrief and he feels like she didn’t stick up for him and he thinks that she should have defended him. Tori says that things happened because he voiced his opinions about her (when blindsided) and he said it in a group of people. She lets him know that she is not going to do massive sticking up for him, he needs to figure it out. She feels sticking up for him when he talked about wanting to sleep with other women and because she said she could see his point, the other women checked in on her as they were shocked! She lets him know that to be considerate is to be considered and she doesn’t feel it.

Mecca and BelleJoile are not in sync as she is still digesting that he said that she was not pretty enough for him! She wants to just be with her own thoughts and he tried to get reactions from her.

Nikki lets us know that Shawn has a communication style that doesn’t work for her - in Seattle she is a 10, but she is a 7 in NY! That is diabolical!

Devin and Caitlin talk and he lets her know that they need to have more of a physical relationship so that they can make more of a decision. He wants to be closer to her and he actually says this in such a respectful way.

Shawn finally gets to chat with Nikki’s mom while she makes Mac & Cheese. Although he felt that her dish was ok, he liked that she made it and connected him to her mom!

Mecca and BelleJolie finally talk about the dinner when he talked about how she looked as they sat in the hot tool. She says this comment was crazy because it’s not the first time that he does these side comments. She says that like Felipe, they are not being considerate because they have been single for so long! At first he tries to say that he didn’t say it the way she heard it and then finally realizes that he did. He said that he’s sorry that he keeps messing up. She wonders how many times she has to keep swallowing this kind of behavior. Even the producers say that he is sabotaging this experience and she is at a roadblock with him.

The couples are packing up to head to the retreat. Michelle and Cam want to know what it will be like and want to get a secluded spot in the house so that they can chill. To have everyone in the same house for this length of time is going to be a lot! Even Tori wonders will it go well or is he going to mess it up? BelleJolie is wondering if things are going to be rough because she doesn’t want to argue in front of everyone and to bring their business on front street! Of course, Adam is wondering if there is a pickleball court where they will be able to play.

Felipe is no help at all when it comes to Tori’s car overheating and she feels a bit annoyed. They end up showing later to the house - so we’ll see how all of that goes down. Once all the housemates have settled in, I’m ready for the dynamics that are bound to pop off. Shawn lets everyone know that he is dipping out in the morning to celebrate his mom’s birthday and it has nothing to do with his relationship with Nikki. He also pulls Adam aside to apologize about the way that he speaks because he uses general terms. He says that he didn’t mean for him to get that aggression. Adam says he appreciates the apology.

After dinner, they continue to have drinks and play games focused on "Most Likely To.” They say a phrase and then everyone points at the person that they think it is. It gets dicey when the question of “Most Likely to offer a swap,” and they say Caitlin and Devin is not thrilled with it. Games like this can make things shakier than they even are! Felipe and Caitlin have had a number of statements that people point to them. Felipe laughs at each time and Tori reminds him that getting so many of them isn’t a good thing! He’s proud of the attention even if he is being put down - but he is not looking at Tori’s face. As he enjoys his trophy, she feels that he is happy about being a womanizer.

The men and the women (minus Tori who is in their room), separate to debrief on the game and where they are.As a whole, the women like Cam. With the men, they think that Caitlin is not connected to what is going on and seems that she wants to be separate from him regardless of whether cameras are on or not (Adam even calls it out when he talked about a concert that they went to off camera).

BelleJolie says the whole “is she pretty enough for me,” and the women are shocked and then he tells the guys and they are like, “why would you say that?” She confides that she still likes him, but it’s a tough place. Mecca says that she is not his dream girl and he is hesitant to say that because she is not thicker, that is part of the disconnect. He finally says that if she had bigger boobs that would be better for him. The fact that he says that he really tries to look at little details to force seeing the pretty and he says she likes her dimples. Cam says that this is disappointing and wonders why he is here if that doesn’t work for him. Does Mecca not realize that any of the guys could take this information back to their partner and ultimately, it will get back to her?

Felipe goes to find Tori thinking that she is with the other women and realizes she is alone. She says that if she did the kinds of things that he did, he wouldn’t like it. She says that what he does and the fact that he is the butt of the jokes, they are a couple and she is also the butt of the joke and there is a lack of consideration. He doesn’t care to understand that the game is about him being a bad partner. She said that she did the experience to be a partner not a mom. She gets that he likes to be the butt of a joke, but she doesn’t.

He tells her that she doesn’t trust him and he doesn’t want to be with someone that takes in other people’s perceptions. She tells him that she doesn’t feel that he is in her corner, but she wants her in his. She tells him that she can’t do this anymore. He finally says as she cries that maybe they are not compatible. She tells him to go back to single life and he asks if she wants him to leave the room - and he does. He goes back to the guys and they can tell that something happened. He says, “I think that she broke up with me,” um she did say go back to single life.

With so many emotions ending E16, we continue on to E17! He tells the guys that he doesn’t know what he did tonight, but that Tori felt like she was the butt of a joke. The girls finally come in and she talks with them. Mecca even sees Tori’s points and the guys realize that it wasn’t cool on all of them to be pointing out Felipe and so they brought tension into their union. Caitlin talks to Felipe and tells him that he has been out of pocket. Shawn says that he has to protect the “we” and it’s not about the “me”. Devin feels that the game has drawn an even bigger line in the sand and that if there is to be intimacy, it will have to come from her. Interestingly enough, Caitlin feels like she has been giving signs and then he runs off to cook or take showers.

Cailtin chats with Cam and Michelle. Cam says that the convo with the men was interesting and that one of the couples is at risk - he gets up to leave and Michelle tells Caitlin that Mecca wants a girl with bigger boobs! Cam feels that leaving and saying, “loose lips sinks ships” takes him out of it - that’s not how it works. Michelle would not have known if Cam hadn’t told her. But once again, Mecca should have realizes that this was going to be a thing!

More of the housemates get up in the morning, Shawn has already left and the other couples have begun to break off into their little groups for some dates. We see Mecca and BelleJolie having a date in wine country. She tells him that she told him about the comment that he said about being pretty for him and how their reactions were so shocked. He says that she is always coming to his defense and he feels good about it, even when he doesn’t deserve it. She is very light about the exchange with the women - but what will she does when she hears about his conversation with the guys.

Felipe and Tori chat and of course, he has his tail tucked between his legs and says all the right things to squeeze his way back in and it works. Can they both be one another’s safe space? It’s so tough as she does like him and she wants to give it the shot that it deserves. Only time will tell.

Devin and Caitlin’s argument that took place since he didn’t know that she was looking to be intimate continues to be brought up. He explains that her method of communication and attemps to shut him down are unacceptable and that he is not going to engage with her in that way. He is so calm, but you can tell that he is at a crossroads and that it’s not a susutainable situation.

The house gets ready for their dinner and of course the women are together. Michelle talks about the dream girl and says that he wanted a girl with bigger titties - although that word didn’t come out of his mouth. This leads BelleJolie to say that she didn’t ask for someone who had painted nails. She feels that men always feel the need to try and humble her. This leads Nikki to say that Shawn told her that she was a Seattle 10 but only a NY 7. Michelle wants to shake most of the women in the house as she feels that they are not with men who deserve them. But I have to appreciate that Michelle is a girl’s girl who is not going to let you sit there thinking that everything is one way when it is the complete opposite.

At dinner, Felipe and Tori talk about how they started talking and are going through adversity to get closer. Cam thinks that their relationship is a telenovela. When they talk with Mecca and BelleJolie, Michelle says that he needs to be more respectful. Why Belle didn’t share that she knew about the boob comment shows her grace and she still sticks up for him. Nikki talks about Shawn and how they have grown closer as well and that she is trying to give him grace. Nikki talks about the Seattle 10/NY 7. The table (as some had never heard this) are shocked. Belle says that Shawn is not for her. Belle also says people who talk like that to humble others is only showing their own insecurity. Mecca seems to look down at the ground. Michelle also calls out everyone that there are couples who have challenges and that they need to value themselves more. Mecca wonders if Belle’s feisty comments to Nikki are actually being directed to him and he asks Caitlin (can’t remember if Caitlin was in the room with the boobs comment). Belle gives him insight by saying that she knows that he talked about her appearance. Cam gives a look knowing that it’s about to go down.

Of course they’re playing a spin the bottle game and asking questions and doing dares. Mecca feels that he is talking in confidence to the boys so he didn’t think it would get back to him. She knows that Belle outside of this experience would not put up with this. She tells him this attraction thing has been haunting their whole relationship. Caitlin and Mecca talk after the game where flirty comments took place and Devin wondered what they could be talking about as Mecca said he would go for his girl (in the game). He then says that they have flirty vibes and she gives him more attention then him. We see later on that the 2 of them chat and argue in front of Belle and Mecca. He feels like he was shut down again. The next morning he says that they have nothing to hold on to in this relationship and again she tried to silence him again. It seems like the 2 of them are going there separate ways and she says she doesn’t need anything more from him.

The final episode of this week, E18 sets up for next week which will be the finale as well as the reunion show! The house wakes up and Devin announces that him and Caitlin are calling it and are no longer going to be together. Marissa is shocked and can’t believe that they are leaving the Couple’s Retreat as single people. Adam asks if Mecca was trying to do a couple swap and he tries to say that he thinks they are just really good friends. Caitlin decides to hitch a ride with Michelle and Cam. Mecca says he felt bad and thinks that their relationship is his fault - although Devin feels he mistepped, he also says that he apologized and so he was good with that. He feels that who he was paired with only had 1 toe in. He isn’t going to dim his light for anyone.

From 7 couples and now down to 5! Felipe meets up with his family and tells them he has a weight on his shoulders and he has to make a decision. He tells them he gets in trouble when he is his true self around her. He says that he says stupid things and that is who he is. His mom thinks that she is good for him. Tori chats with her friend and tells her the conflicting feelings that she has and her friend lets her know that she is there for her either way.

Nikki and Shawn go on a date and we get more contact about the Seattle 10/NY 7 and he tells her that before he said that, she did grab his belly fat and that’s what led him to saying that. But he also says that he understands that that shouldn’t have been said and although she doesn’t remember saying this, she also apologizes for that. It would have been interesting if production could have shown scenes where we could have seen that.

The final dates are always nice to see the couples imagine what their lives would be like together. They get to share their last thoughts and then they have to move out of their apartments and spend a night alone to really take the time to take the proper perspective.
