Like many, we have been bubbled in for almost a year. In addition to still having a busy schedule of the day to day needs of running Athleisure Mag and its companion podcast network, Athleisure Studio, I also have my face mask line, Kimmie Vincent. I find myself in these months to also explore additional things that I may not have thought to do when everything was open and running. This has included making kimonos (which will be available soon on Kimmie Vincent, handbags also available shortly on the site and more).

Since I’m not ready to share those goodies just yet, I can talk about something that I have been doing which involves prop styling and flat lays (if you follow Kimmie Vincent’s instagram, you would see these throughout the summer). You’d think as someone who started my career as a Visual Merchandiser for brands such as Anthropologie, Gap and Abercombie & Fitch that I would have this under my belt - but not really. With time on our hands and the need to have a bit of a breather, it’s been fun to try new things such as when Safe and Fair sent us (Co-Founder/Publisher and Photographer of Athleisure Mag, Paul Farkas who is also my boyfriend have enjoyed these side projects) their drizzled popcorn (Key Lime, Chocolate and Birthday Cake) and we decided that we would do a shoot with them and one of my FAVORITE jewelry brands LAGOS. I decided that although I’m a fan of their Black Caviar Beaded pieces which have been in a NUMBER of our Athleisure Mag photoshoots and they were so nice to gift me a piece when I turned 41 last year, I wanted to play with their Mother of Pearl Collection as I thought it looked amazing with the popcorn. We also thought it would be cool to use these vintage crystal glasses as well as a silver serving tray. We ended up including this in a shot for one of our issues but at the time when this was shot which was last summer, it was fun to feel like we were “on set”. We used our ring light, camera etc. It made us think about going back to doing shoots but virtually. It was definitely a fun shoot to do that took a few hours and it was great that we could nibble as we played. It also gave me a HUGE respect for Food Stylists!
