SK STREAMING | S20 E. 4-6 MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT

Thurs night means another batch of this week’s Married at First Sight episodes. We kick off E4 with the morning after their weddings! We see how some couples have started to get in a flow and we see a bit of friction that exists between other couples. All the couples get ready to head to their honeymoon and to eventually meet the other couples. The dynamis for the couples are interesting. Nikki and Shawn is a couple that I feel like it seems obvious it’s not going to work because Shawn is definitely diving in, but he doesn’t read the room in terms of how Nikki takes his comments. Sometimes Nikki seems like she is not into it, but then she will say that they are. We realize that the way he asks questions can come off like an educator talking and his wife doesn’t feel like he is being gentle with her. We also realize that she tells him that she doesn’t want to go all the way with him until much later on and when they record a diary, she makes a conclusion that that is how they will be - this causes friction. They talk it out, but it’s another ripple that lets me know that they are going to have issues.
Courtney and Nick are an example of 2 people that are not on the same page. She wishes he had more energy and he is so comfortable. As the couples interact with the other couples she tells them that being with him makes her feel like she is back in quarantine days. Since he is not handy per se, we can also see that that is not going to win him any bonus points with her.
Felipe and Tori have some hard conversations. Tori is religious and Felipe is an atheist; however, he lets her know that if it is important to her to have her kids with a religious base, he is fine with it. He also tells her that he cheated on his girlfriend once and somehow he blocked it out. It’s an interesting nuance.
Michelle lets Cameron know that she has fibroids and that that will make it hard for her to have kids as she is in the midst of surgery. She lets him know that she is open to adopting which he says his sister is adopted and she is amazing.
Marissa and Adam seem like they are in a good flow and close, but I feel like the fact that she drinks will end up being a thing with him.
Caitlin and Devin seem great as they agree on their first night on their honeymoon that they will go to the gym together. In fact, he says when the alarm rings, wake me up. She goes to the gym alone and he wakes up later realizing that she left without him. He feels that if she had told him that that was her plan, he would have been ok with it. He realizes that she really likes her alone time and that she can be a bit standoffish which will be a problem for him. She explains that she has black cat energy and that he is a golden retriever.
BelleJolie and Mecca seem to be in a good flow, but she asks him if they are just great as friends or will they be able to have a bit more between them?
All the couples get to meet each other that night to see who is paired with who and to also get a temperature check on how their relationships are going. In many ways they like the fact that they can see that there isn’t just one way that things are going and it encourages them to navigate, but you can see a few of the cracks. The largest one is the fact that Courtney is always running away from Nick and that when he goes back to her, you can see that she feels like there is a weight on her. Meanwhile, we see that she loves chatting with Adam and Adam even comments on the fact that although she can’t have pasta at Felipe’s restaurant because she has celiac - that she has great muscularity on a vegan diet.
E5 brings us into the next day of the honeymoons! We see that Nikki and Shawn chat about previous relationships and although Shawn is trying to know more, he defintiely has investigative vibes. Devin and Caitlin actually have a talk about her giving him the dip on their first day of the honeymoon by going to the gym solo which hopefully will allow them to navigate future issues when they need to confront one another. Michelle and Cameron talk about children in terms of a timeline as well as the fact that he is a basketball coach who lives in Portland, while she lives in Seattle. He lets her know that as a college basketball coach, he can’t always choose the city that they live in. He also lets her know that having relationships in the past haven’t been the smoothest for him.
All the couples are together as the guys and girls catch up with one another talking about what they need. Nick chats with Mecca and says he wants to take steps now to course correct so that he doesn’t get stuck in the friend zone. Mecca tells him that he is chilling and he doesn’t want to mess anything up.
Nick and Courtney chat and she tells him that she is a slow burn. Even though he cuddled her, she lets him know that she is not into it. She is not a touchy/feely person. She also tells him that she is goofy and she is not comfortable in expressing when she feels that something is missing. She gets emotional and says that she likes when other people are happy and she doesn’t want to put herself in front of others. They get to the nitty gritty about who they are, why he went on reality shows, how they need to put the work in - I really want them to work as I think that they could be a great match!
Although a number of couples are bonding but Caitlin and Devin had a great date at a waterpark, but then they got into it off camera. He feels rejected and thinks that they are not on the same page, but he doesn’t want to give up. She feels a bit helpless. Nikki and Shawn continue to show how their communication doesn’t connect. The other couples seem like they are flowing in the right direction.
E6 brings the couples from the honeymoon to living in their new apartments with one another.
